Dental Tomography
Dental Tomography (CT) (3D Imaging) is a type of 3-dimensional radiography that allows detailed examination of jaw bones, teeth and anatomical structures (sinus cavities, nerve channels of teeth, etc.).
With our tomography device at Jimer Dental Clinics, we can perform instant tomography scans without the need to refer our patients to external centers. In this way, we enable the physician to quickly access the detailed radiological images he needs, and our patients to quickly receive the most appropriate treatment with these detailed examinations.
Frequently Asked Questions
The teeth and jaw image obtained with panoramic films is a 2-dimensional image. Dental tomographies allow 3D imaging and measurements of desired areas in the jaw bones as cross-sections. 2D imaging does not give us clear information about the thickness of the bones or the exact size of the cysts. With dental tomographs, the area and bone desired to be imaged are displayed in the most accurate form. Thanks to dental tomography, precise millimetric measurements of the width and length of anatomical structures are obtained.
Depth is not visible in 2-dimensional imaging such as panoramic films, so sometimes structures that appear to be related to each other, for example a wisdom tooth thought to be related to a nerve, can be found separately from each other within the bone. With dental tomographies that provide 3D imaging, diagnoses can be made clearly and accurately, and patients can access the right treatment.
- Clear information is obtained about the lengths as well as the thickness of the bones.
- The structure, thickness and suitability of the bone in the area where the implant will be applied are determined.
- Anatomical structures (sinus cavities, nerve channels) in the implant area are identified and it is ensured that these structures are not damaged during the procedures.
- The position of the impacted teeth in the jawbone is determined.
- The relationship of impacted teeth with anatomical structures is determined.
- The size and location of the cysts in the jaw bones are determined.
- The relationship of the teeth in the upper jaw with the sinus cavities is evaluated.
- The relationship of the teeth and cystic structures in the lower jaw with the nerve passing through the lower jaw is evaluated.
- Root and canal differences are detected in the teeth that will undergo root canal treatment.
- An evaluation of the jaw joint can be made.
